➡️Greek 4991 “rescue or safety (physical or moral): - deliver, salvation”

[1] The blind man’s receiving sight was followed in Luke 19 by the salvation of Zaccheus. Indicating that to receive salvation one must first have sight to see the Saviour, Jesus Christ. The two cases, occurring in Jericho one after the other, should be considered, spiritually, as one complete case. In this way the blind man could be like the repenting tax collector and the unoccupied little child and receive the Saviour, and Zaccheus could renounce all his riches and follow Him. In Luke 19:9 Jesus tells Zaccheus that he was a son of Abraham, a chosen heir of God’s promised inheritance [Galatians 3:7,29].

🗝️This indicates that the Saviour’s coming to Jericho was purposeful; He came to seek this unique lost sinner, just as He sought the sinful woman in Samaria [John 4 - “the woman at the well” (the lesson on eternal life - the living water)].

[2] “PRAISE THE Lord! (Hallelujah!) Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. [Deut. 10:12.] His [spiritual] offspring shall be mighty upon earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Prosperity and welfare are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light arises in the darkness for the upright, gracious, compassionate, and just [who are in right standing with God]. It is well with the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with justice. [Ps. 37:26; Luke 6:35; Col. 4:5.] He will not be moved forever; the [uncompromisingly] righteous (the upright, in right standing with God) shall be in everlasting remembrance. [Prov. 10:7.] He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firmly fixed, trusting (leaning on and being confident) in the Lord. His heart is established and steady, he will not be afraid while he waits to see his desire established upon his adversaries. He has distributed freely [he has given to the poor and needy]; his righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) endures forever; his horn shall be exalted in honor. [II Cor. 9:9.] The wicked man will see it and be grieved and angered, he will gnash his teeth and disappear [in despair]; the desire of the wicked shall perish and come to nothing.”

[Psalm 112:1-10 AMPC]
